Twitter

I'm going to teach a Twitter class in October and I can't wait. Why???
Because Twitter is even more fun than before, better layout, Twitter header, etc.

Twitter rocks - but you know that, right?:)

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Finally I had a chance to watch The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and it's a sweet movie, very good for a weekend with family.

There were few quotes for the movie I want to share with you and I hope you decide to see that movie as well.

  1.  "But it's also true that the person who risks nothing, does nothing, has
nothing. All we know about the future is that it will be different. But
perhaps what we fear is that it will be the same. So we must celebrate the
    changes."
  2.  "If I can't pronounce it, I don't want to eat it."
  3. "I'm gay - although nowadays more in theory than in practice. "
  4.  "Evelyn: Nothing here has worked out quite as I expected.
Muriel: Most things don't. But sometimes what happens instead is the good
    stuff."
  5.  "everything will be all right in the end. So if it is not all right, it is not yet the end."

...so what's your movie for the weekend?

Back to Hiking

I discovered hiking in February/March 2012 and I decided to give it a try. I planned to do some hiking for a few weeks and then make the decision if I like it or not.

I had a good plan:
  1. get hiking boots
  2. remember about the gym (well yes...it's good to prepare yourself before hiking)
  3. get camel backpack and hiking pole
  4. shorts, t-shirt, hat and sun-screen etc.

That's it. I decided not to spend too much money for above equipment because I wasn't sure how long I'm going to hike.
Everything was great at the beginning. My friend (experienced hiker) was gentle with me and we went to an easy trial.
I thought - that's fantastic, I can do it. After an 30 minutes I wanted to stop and sit down on the ground, I didn't care. After an hour I told my friend that I don't care anymore and I'm staying in the middle of nowhere. The truth is that I might also wanted to cry (but I'm not so sure about that, I was so tired). Finally we managed to get back to the car.

After that experience I wasn't so sure anymore if I want to continue hiking but then I thought that I can't give up that fast.
Next trial (more difficult than the first one) and the same story: I was the slowest on the trail, people were passing my by. I think there was no person on that trail hiking slower than me! Parents with kids, people with small dogs - everyone was faster than me. And again I think I might mentioned that all I want to do is to sit and don't move for a few days. I think that my friend had a lot of fun.

But again I decided that I can't give up ... not yet anyway. Few more months, few more trials and a few sprained ankles later I was still hiking.

I had to stop hiking at the beginning of August because of the temperature (over 110F).
But for those few months I was able to hike almost every day between 6am and 8am.

...and you know what...I like it.
So far I had to change my hiking boots but everything is great. I have my favorite place for hiking at White Tank Mountain Regional Park.

I was hiking alone most of the time and now I'm thinking of joining a hiking group.

I found few interesting websites with useful information for hikers (beginners):

October is around the corner and I'm getting back to hiking - and as a very indoor person I'm very excited. If you live in West Valley and would like to hike with a beginner, please let me know :)

Why I love Mondays

Do you like Mondays? yes or no?
Monday used to be NOT my favorite day of the week but for last few years I discovered that actually it's my favorite day. I'm looking forward to Monday morning, sometimes I just can't wait.
Monday - fresh & new beginning and I guess that's why I can't wait. What's new, what else I can do, what's there in the world?
...so now I'm looking forward to Monday morning and I hope that there are more people like me :)

ohh and btw.: it's not that I like Monday because it's my day off - well it's not and I still love it.

Success

...so as you remember just recently I mentioned that my Garmin GPS didn't work. I even said farewell to my device. Can you imagine how happy I was when finally I was (somehow) able to fix it. Well I just gave it one more try and - success.
No need to buy a new GPS device. Old is almost like new again. Happy me.

Garmin again

I would like to say: Thank you Garmin nuvi 1390LTM for your hard work for last 2yrs. I just have been told that your problem is beyond repair (or I should rather say: $110 repair) and that's why I decided to look for a new one...

My Photoshop Journey

Thanks to my friend from RitaMaryWhatever blog I decided to try Photoshop Elements and let me just tell you...wow! I love it,it's great way to create so much interesting graphics, fix pictures.
There is only one thing I don't like about it - the amount of time I need to finally know as much as possible about that application, but you know what - I will get there.

Here are two graphics:

Why I like Spotify?

I like Spotify. Yes I do, and even if I just use their free plan - which means that every few songs I have to listen to their ads - I'm ok with that.

Why I like it?
When I work I like to listen to some music and because I don't have (never cared) a big music collection on my laptop, I'd prefer to listen on-line streaming.

oh, and there is Pandora app available as well. So If I decide that Spotify is not good for me anymore then Pandora here I come.

What's Wrong with Garmin?

So far I was very happy with my Garmin nuvi 1390 LTM GPS device.Little thing but powerful, showing me hot to get to different places. I noticed a year ago that I have some difficulties to update maps but what happened yesterday and today was just too much.

Long story short:
  1. I updated the Garmin application (Garmin Lifetime Updater)
  2. I connected device to my laptop
  3. and...
  4. nothing
My laptop was able to recognize the device for 5 min and then the connection (USB cable) was dropped. After an hour of a connecting/disconnecting fight I was finally able to start updating maps...and after 15min Garmin devise just disconnected by itself and I couldn't switch it on. The update was not finished, the know that the battery was recharged and I have no idea what's wrong!

I really like electronic devices but today Garmin GPS device was NOT on my TOP10 most wanted ;)

tomorrow is a new day - so I'm going to try again.

Random Thoughts

...I decided that as long as I use this blog for TESTING I can write and share with you whatever I think is worth sharing. So sometimes it might be something regarding social media (simply because I'm social media geek) and sometimes something I discovered and I just want to let you know about that.

For example today I finally found a cheat-sheet regarding sports
via DashBurst

No worries, I'm not that big soccer fan but still I was surprised to see this sheet. I just had a conversation about that on Facebook (you know Facebook - that place online with over 900 million users?) and I've been told that soccer is basically popular all around the world. Sorry to all my friends from Canada - I didn't know that you like soccer as well ;)
